Bullitt (1968)
Decades before I grew up with the same last name, Peter Yates’ Bullitt had already made a lasting impression on film audiences and men across the world. I find it ironic that I had never watched this movie growing up, or at least while I lived in San Francisco, but I realize it was worth the wait.

Seriously. I’ve just watched all of the supplemental features on Head and Easy Rider and I cannot believe how much I’ve learned. Incredibly fulfilling, as always.

Winter's Bone (2010)
Definitely my worst nightmare.
Take a girl like Jennifer Lawrence (who you could basically find anywhere in America), strip off her makeup, throw her into Methssouri.. ‘scuse me… Missouri, make her dad the king of said methtown, and you get something else. You need to add in your personal prejudices and worst fears about what it means to live (if you can call it that) in those parts...

It’s hard to ignore the dreamy, initial feature length film of the predominantly mediocre director Sofia Coppola, though many people try.
